Types of Abortions

Abortion Pill

A two pill process, that is usually available within the first 10 weeks of pregnancy.
Side effects can include intense cramping, bleeding, nausea, and/or vomiting, diarrhea, and dizziness.


A procedure done at a licensed doctor’s office by numbing the cervix and suctioning the uterine content. Typically Performed between weeks 6 and 16. Side effects can include heavy bleeding, blood clots, nausea, and/or vomiting, sweating, and dizziness or feeling faint. More serious side effects include cervix damage, increased risk of some cancers, and perforation of the uterus.

Dilation & Evacuation

A complex procedure performed 16 weeks and beyond where similar steps are taken as in aspiration, but includes a possible shot to ensure fetal death and surgical removal of all uterine content. Side effects can include heavy bleeding, blood clots, nausea and/or vomiting. More serious long term side effects can include uterine lining or cervix damage, infection, blood clots, increased risk of some types of cancers, and perforation of the uterus.
